Having problems with the website or maybe your just having trouble finding something?

Here are a few suggestions:

Lost

1. Try checking our Site Map. It shows an overview of the pages available on the website. There are links to the Site Map at the top and bottom of all of the web pages. You can reach it by clicking the word Site Map in this paragraph or on any menu link throughout the site.

2. Try searching for the item using one of our Search Engines. There is a Search Form located at the top of the right column on any of the three column pages. There is also an Advanced Search link located at the bottom of every page. You can also reach our Advanced Search by clicking the word Advanced Search in this paragraph or on any menu link throughout the site.

Our website uses a primary navigational menu, located on the left side of all pages. You can get to almost every page using this menu.

Two other quick links navigational menus are located on the top and bottom of each page. These menus are meant to provide shortcuts to some of the more requested areas and to areas that we feel may help someone having difficulty locating a page.

We also have added a Submenu system in each group (eg .. Visitors, Residents, etc .. ) to help the user navigate within that section more quickly. Several of these links are duplications and are added to give you many directions to find a page. This may seem confusing to some people, but we have found that it in fact helps someone who is unfamiliar with web page browsing. We do however focus our web site flow from the primary menu and make every effort to ensure that it is easily navigated.

Speed

Much of our content contains graphic-rich material. We also plan to use videos and streaming audio. If you have trouble with speed, we recommend use of a high speed broadband (e.g., DSL, Cable) connection.

Screen Resolution

The City Of Orange Cove web site layout is designed to use the screen size of 800 x 600. For the best possible viewing we recommend using a screen resolution of either 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768.

JavaScript

This web site uses Java and Java Scripts. Make sure you computer supports and is configured to run JavaScript.

Security and Email Links

We take great steps to protect our website from SPAM and Data Harvesters. All of our e-mail and feedback links use web-based forms and CAPCHTA protection. CAPTCHA protection is the special image that you see when using any e-mail and login form. Using this security code method ensures that request is being completed by human action. Security images are dynamically generated images containing hard to read text, it is using a combination of font colors, font size, fuzzy background, font angle in order to disallow computer to automate reading (and so limit spamming). The user (a human) has to reproduce all character correctly before being allowed to post.

To ensure that these resources are accessible to blind and partially sighted users, as well as other people with disabilities. We have added special code in the main page of the website. This page is read each time a page is opened and will guide users to an alterative method of accessibility.

If you have problems with any of these links or features, please contact our Webmaster.

Accessibility

The City of Orange Cove is committed to making our website as accessible as possible to blind and partially sighted users, and to people with disabilities. Although not required by regulation or law, the city voluntarily complies with the guidelines used at the Federal level ("Section 508") and is incorporating into its website accessibility design standards to meet Universal Design concepts supported by the W3C Guidelines and ADA Accessibility Requirements.

ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES

Some of the website's accessibility features include...

Images used in our site are given appropriate alternative text descriptions ("ALT tags"), as required by internationally-recognized Web accessibility guidelines. All graphical navigation buttons are similarly ALT-tagged.

Graphic images with "image maps" contain ALT tags and, if needed, navigation instructions.

Photographs that contribute to the content of a page include a long description.

We try to use link names that are descriptive, intuitive text links, not vague references such as "click," "here," "link," or "this." All pages on this site have a hidden accessibility feature, noticeable only to users of text-only and audio browsers, which enables the user to "skip over" the main page navigation buttons (rather then having to tab through them manually at the start of every page). You can jump down to the main content of the page without listening to the navigation scheme for each page.

Menus, tables and forms are designed to be intuitive, logical and easy use by "keyboard" navigators

The City Of Orange Cove website does not use frames (since they cannot be read intelligently by screen readers, create navigation problems and are not supported by all browsers).

The City of Orange Cove website adheres to web standards. This means that our website is usable in all web browsers. The site will appear as intended in all modern browsers and will degrade gracefully in older browsers.

If for some reason you are having difficulty viewing or using our website please feel free to contact our Webmaster.
